Despite its archetypically English setting, 62 The Bank creates great flavours from around the globe.
With an eclectic evening menu including seafood, Piri Piri spiced dishes and house specials, 62 The Bank is always buzzing with atmosphere.
62 The Bank is a wonderful place to meet up with friends and linger over a coffee, lunch or an evening meal.
The stylish brasserie is set in an extraordinary building, originally a merchant's house over 300 years ago, when Barnstaple was a bustling trading centre. The staggeringly beautiful Tudor ceiling was completed by members of the school of North Devon Plasterers in 1620. Since 1760, the building has been used by the public - first as the Golden Lion Inn, then the Golden Lion Hotel in the 19th century and then as a High Street bank for nearly forty years in the mid twentieth century.
Now, this atmospheric building is restored to its former glory and, as in its heyday when it housed the Golden Lion, it is again a place where you can eat, drink and be merry.
Our reputation as the most convivial place to meet in Barnstaple has now been given a further boost with our amazing new cocktail bar. Fresh, contemporary decor and sleek furnishings combine with subdued lighting to create a very special place to gather with friends. Sip on an aperitif before your meal at one of our restaurants, enjoy an expertly prepared seasonal cocktail, or maybe drop in for a glass or two of bubbly before your trip to the theatre. And afterwards, you can sink into one of our comfy sofas and round off your evening with one of the world’s finest spirits. Treat yourself to a touch of the high life.
There are lots of things to do in North Devon, but the very best are outdoors where you get to make the most of the fabulous and unspoilt natural environment. Whether you enjoy walking, surfing, spending time on the beach, horseriding, fishing or playing golf, you'll find some fantastic activities waiting for you.
